MSJC student receives full ride scholarship to Duke University Dance Festival

April 24, 2014

Mt. San Jacinto College dance student Daniel Miramontes, of Lake Elsinore, has been awarded a full tuition scholarship to the 2014 American Dance Festival (ADF) at Duke University.

ADF will be held June 12 through July 26 at Duke University in Durham, NC. It is the most prestigious modern dance festival in the United States and hosts the world's most renowned dance artists, who share their work with the festival participants.  Miramontes' scholarship grants him six weeks of professional training.

Miramontes was one of only a handful of transfers accepted into the B.F.A. dance program at California State University, Long Beach.  In 2013, only eight transfers were admitted for the year. Miramontes also auditioned and has been accepted as a transferring dance major to San Diego State University, CSU Fullerton and Cornish College for the Arts.

“We wish Daniel well, but will miss his wonderful energy, eagerness to learn, and passion for dance,” said MSJC dance instructor Tennille Lambert. “Come and see Daniel and all of the dance majors "throw down' at the Episodes dance concert this week!”
