A free job fair will bring scores of employers and hundreds of potential employees together on the campus of Mt. San Jacinto College this fall. Organizers of the event are asking employers to call now to reserve space, said Angela Barbera, Job Fair coordinator. The number to call is (951) 639-5285.
“At the last job fair, we had over 60 employer booths and we expect that number or more this time,” said Barbera. “Some employers were amazed by the number of applications they received. One Starbucks franchise received over 100 applications at the job fair, and some employers even hired on the spot.”
Free and open to both the job seekers and the employers, the fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 17 in the gymnasium at the San Jacinto Campus. Parking will be free on campus.
Representatives from banks, restaurants, school districts, health care agencies, retail companies, the military and city and county offices and others will be on hand, said Alex Cuatok of the MSJC Job Placement Services office.
MSJC has held job fairs in the past, Cuatok said, drawing more than 1,000 participants. Some employers will accept applications and resumes and will conduct interviews on the spot. Job seekers are encouraged to bring resumes and dress in professional attire.
Although the fair is geared toward college students, it is open to the public as well. There is no charge to businesses or job seekers, but reservations are required to set up a booth. An eight-foot table and two chairs will be provided for each employer, but they will need to bring table cloths and promotional items.
