Mt. San Jacinto College joins the California Community College Chancellor’s Office and other community colleges in hosting a week of events starting on Oct. 15, 2018 to support undocumented students.
The “Undocumented Students Week of Action” is designed to encourage local advocacy in support of students who are part of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, according to the Chancellor’s office (PDF). MSJC has a host of events scheduled Monday through Thursday with topics that range from financial aid and citizenship to watching films like “A Better Life.” There will also be a discussion about the experiences of DACA students, also called "Dreamers."
“We are proud of the diversity that makes up the student population at Mt. San Jacinto College and want students to know we will continue to provide access to quality higher education to residents of this region,” said Dr. John Colson, Vice President of Student Services. “The Week of Action is one way we can show our students we support their dreams of college completion and success as well as support our faculty and staff. As a college district, we have a history of supporting dreamers from a cross section of groups that include the Student Government Association, faculty, staff, administration and our Board of Trustees.”
