Student Equity

      According to the California Community College System’s Office and the California Code of Regulations, each college within the system is charged with the responsibility of designing and implementing a Student Equity Plan (SEP).  The intent of the Student Equity Plan is to address underrepresented population’s needs with the interest and intent of improving these students’ opportunities for success.  The Student Equity committee was formed and is charged with assessing and evaluating MSJC’s current population based on the following indicators: 
     1.        Access 
     2.       Course Completion 
     3.        ESL and Basic Completion
     4.       Degree and Certificate Completion
     5.       Transfer Rate

 

 

Committee Charge:

Develop and recommend programs, resources, and policies (i.e., student equity plan) to increase the access, retention, completion and transfer of all student groups, especially underrepresented ones. Ongoing coordination, evaluation, and revisions of programs and policies designed to achieve student equity. The committee shall also decide matters of dispersal of funds such as those from statewide equity initiatives and track yearly expenditures related to that funding and/or other funding designated for assessing and mitigating disproportionate impact.
