MSJC Child Development & Education Center Receives Praise from State

3/7/2024

The Mt. San Jacinto College (MSJC) Child Development & Education Center recently received rave reviews following a formal visit from the California Department of Education-Early Education Division.

The state Early Education Division conducted the in-person portion of the routine “Contract Monitoring Review” over four days from Jan. 29 to Feb. 1 at the San Jacinto Campus, focusing on the college’s Child Development and Education Center program operations. The purpose of the review was to ensure program operations met the requirements of the state-awarded $929,685 grant. The division’s final report resulted in no findings and all 20 items reviewed met the state’s requirements.

During the exit meeting on the final day, Dr. Sandra Flores, child development consultant for the California Department of Education, praised the work MSJC is doing.

“It takes a village to accomplish the results that your program showed us,” Flores said. “You have a great village, including your college students that work here.”

Kimberly Day, Director of the MSJC Child Development & Education Center, thanked the staff, instructors and students for the hard work that has made the program successful.

“The visit to the center focused on you, your classrooms, interactions, and the environment,” Day told her team. “I sincerely want to thank each and every one of you for your contributions to our program and the difference you have made, and will continue to make for our children, the families, the adult students, and our community!”
