Student Speaker Auditions

          Auditions are an opportunity for graduates (Summer 2023, Fall 2023 or Spring 2024) to participate in the grad ceremony as a member of the "Platform Party" (those on stage).  During the auditions, four students (two per ceremony) will be chosen to participate- one as speaker, and one as tassel turner.

          If you wish to audition to deliver a reflection speech, please prepare a 3 – 5 minute speech focused on the theme “A Legacy of Transformation.”  A written copy of your speech must be submitted at the time of the audition.

          In preparing your speech, you may wish to thank many of your instructors and staff; however, we encourage you not to include names. We are looking for motivational/success stories and how your experience here at MSJC has positively influenced you as you look ahead to the future. The criteria for being selected as a speaker include content, presentation, adherence to the theme, and length of speech (not to exceed five minutes). The speech need not be memorized, but an excessive dependence on reading will negatively affect your presentation. The speech may or may not have humor, anecdotes from your time on campus, a “moral,” and advice to others, etc.

Auditions are in person as follows:

• Menifee Valley Campus- ​Wednesday, April 17th, 4:30 to 6:30 PM, Room 600
• San Jacinto Campus- Thursday, April 18th, 4:30 to 6:30 PM, Room 1614
