Leopold Murphy

Bio:

Leopold Murphy is the Chair of the Theatre Department at Mt. San Jacinto College, where he directs productions and teaches full time. He earned his MFA in Acting from The Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard University and the Moscow Art Theatre.

An award-winning actor and director, Leopold has performed internationally and built a distinguished career as a New York theatre performer, highlighted by his AUDELCO Award–winning role as Levee in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom with The Classical Theatre of Harlem, as well as appearances on Law & Order, The Good Fight, Madam Secretary, and Shades of Blue. He has taught at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, worked as an acting coach and facilitator specializing in Social Emotional Learning across New York City, and served as a Prime BEEF Instructor with the 144th Fighter Wing, Air National Guard, in Fresno.

His teaching emphasizes storytelling, collaboration, and preparing the next generation of artists for the stage and screen.
