Board of Governors Fee Waiver To Become The California College Promise Grant
Say goodbye to BOG, and meet its new rebranding — “The California College Promise Grant.”
By fall 2018, California community colleges will stop referencing the fee waiver as the BOG and replace the name with the California College Promise Grant. The Promise Grant will continue to cover tuition costs. Any other financial aid programs awarded to the student can be used to offset the cost of textbooks, supplies and other educational expenses.
This isn't the first change the program has seen. Since fall 2016, the fee waiver program introduced academic requirements for eligibility. To qualify for the waiver, students must now maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher and complete more than 50 percent of coursework in two consecutive terms, excluding summer.
Students are encouraged to complete the 2018-2019 FAFSA or DREAM Act application early, to be automatically considered for the Promise Grant (aka BOG Fee Waiver). For students who need assistance with financial aid, please visit the Financial Aid Office.
