Project Description:
MSJC is changing the format of student account usernames and student email accounts. Currently, the format for a MyMSJC username is the first initial, last name, and last 3 digits of the student id (i.e. John Doe #0000001 would be jdoe001). Student email addresses have followed the convention of student username with a domain of @student.msjc.edu (jdoe001@student.msjc.edu). As of December 23rd, MyMSJC usernames and emails will simply be the student id with a domain of @my.msjc.edu (0000001@my.msjc.edu). For ease of use, the new MyMSJC usernames and new student email accounts will share the same password so students will no longer need to maintain a separate password for their student email accounts.
On December 20-23, MSJC will be making changes to MyMSJC accounts and MSJC student email accounts. As such, MSJC will be creating a new MyMSJC account by December 23rd and will communicate that new account information to student's personal email account that is listed in the Profile page of Self-Service.
Additionally, due to Microsoft licensing changes, MSJC has updated the policy related to whom will receive a student email account. As of December 23rd, 2021, students will receive a new student email account upon registration into a class. Students that have registered and maintained an active enrollment status in the Spring 2022 term will receive a new @my.msjc.edu email account. Email addresses ending in @student.msjc.edu will be available until March 1st, 2022, using the existing username and passwords. Additionally, students are encouraged to advise relevant external contacts of the change in the student contact information. After March 1st, 2022, the email accounts ending in @student.msjc.edu will be deactivated. The deactivated email accounts will no longer be accessible and will no longer receive email.
