MSJC is Ready to Open for Online Instruction on April 6th

Sent 04/03/2020

Dear Students

We are so excited to welcome you back to restart your semester on Monday, April 6, 2020!

We hope that in some way, the return to your classes will give you some semblance of normalcy. We know that the last three weeks have been a time of uncertainty, stress, and trepidation, however, we want to reiterate that we are here for you. We are ready to serve you on Monday and throughout the entirety of the semester. Your success is our priority and we will do all that we can to support you in any way we can.

We anticipate that most, if not all, of your instructors have communicated to you regarding the transition and the movement of your course online. If you have any questions about your class or how to participate in your course using the online platform Canvas, we ask that you please contact your instructor who can provide this information. Your instructor's contact information will be on your course syllabus.

If you need help learning how to use Canvas, we encourage you to watch the Student Canvas Overview or “how to” Video Guides. For Technical Support, please contact the 24/7 Canvas Student Hotline: (844) 303-4497. Below, please find additional links for computer/technology support and resources:

ConferZoom

Your instructor may hold office hours or other meetings using an online meeting platform called ConferZoom which is already integrated into your Canvas course.

With the speed that we transitioned to a completely online environment, it is important to recognize that there are bound to be hiccups on Monday and perhaps throughout the semester. Due to the large number of folks using these same online systems all across our country, we anticipate that technology may be glitchy and may not fully function. Our faculty and staff are rallying for you and will continue to be flexible, adaptable, innovative and ready to trouble-shoot and problem-solve so that we can continue to be as responsive as possible to your unique needs during this transition.

I know none of this has been easy. You are experiencing a time in history that no other generation has ever faced.  To continue your education in the face of so much uncertainty may seem daunting. But we know that you are the generation that can do this. We believe in you!

I hope that you can take a few moments this weekend to not only prepare for the restart of the semester but give yourself some time to catch your breath and rest. We have been sprinting these last three weeks. We are certainly bound to face additional challenges ahead -- but based on what I know about our MSJC Eagles, I am confident that we will make it through this time together.

Take care, stay well and healthy,

Roger Schultz
