Dear Students,

Welcome back, Eagles!

I appreciate all of your patience and understanding over the past three weeks. We've come a long way in a very short time. We went from learning about the college's closure by the Riverside County Public Health Department on March 13 to transitioning all of our face-to-face classes – with very few exceptions – into an online format.

Today's successful relaunch was only possible because of the hard work, dedication and innovation of our committed faculty and staff. They not only transitioned the classes, but they also moved the most essential student support services online.

You can now visit our Student Support Hub on the MSJC website for help with Enrollment, Financial Aid, Counseling, Technology Support, the Bookstore, and Cashier. I encourage you to visit the Hub if you need the assistance over the rest of the spring semester and into the summer session, which will also be held online.

As you know, we have been working to identify student technology needs to better inform us as to how we can best help you succeed in an online environment. As a result, we were able to determine which students needed help with technology the most.

Today, we mailed the first phase of Chromebooks to about 50 of those students most in need. We have plans to provide additional Chromebooks as well as mobile hotspots to more students in need in the future.

We are all facing new challenges in the face of this COVID-19 pandemic, but we will do what we can – within our power – to help you continue on your educational journeys to find academic success at MSJC. I appreciate your continued understanding and patience during this time, but am excited that we're now online with instruction and students support services this spring to help you succeed.

Stay safe and be healthy,

Roger Schultz
