A Message from Dr. Roger Schultz, MSJC Superintendent/President

Hi, Eagles.

I can't believe it's already graduation week. It feels like the Spring 2021 semester went by so fast. I wanted to reach out before the semester officially ends to say how truly proud I am of the students at Mt. San Jacinto College.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit more than a year ago, you have overcome many challenges, yet your determination is stronger than ever. You didn't allow a pandemic, or online learning, or stay-at-home orders derail you from your dreams. You have rallied to support our Call to Action to help end systemic racism. You are resilient and you are high achievers. You are the kind of leaders this country will need in the near future to come out of the effects of the pandemic.

If you are graduating, I congratulate you for a job well-done. You should have received the emails about our Class of 2021 virtual ceremony that starts at 10 AM Thursday, May 27, and our drive-through celebration for the Class of 2021, also on Thursday. The times to participate in the drive-through celebration vary and you must RSVP to book your time. Please review the graduation information at msjc.edu/graduation.

For those of you who are continuing your studies at MSJC, we will continue to support you. Be sure to check out the summer schedule and register for your classes. Summer will remain online as we continue to navigate the constantly changing COVID-19 regulations.

In-person, on-campus classes will resume in the Fall 2021 semester. We have implemented safety equipment and social distancing to ensure a safe return. The Fall schedule of classes is already online to help you plan. Through student surveys, we have learned that you like a robust mix of fully online classes and in-person classes. You will find plenty of offerings for online and on-campus courses. Student demand for more classes will drive how many more classes we can add, so let us know what you need.

There is so much excitement in the air this time of year. The excitement is even more palpable as more people get the COVID-19 vaccination, more folks are in restaurants and we are seeing an easing of the COVID restrictions. We still need to be mindful to keep ourselves safe and be courteous to keep others safe, but it does feel like we are starting to return to life again.

I have missed you, Eagles, and cannot wait until we are back on campus together.
