On Tuesday, April 8, Dr. Roger Schultz and Nan Gomez-Heitzeberg, trustee of Kern Community College District, CCCT President, and member of the California Community Colleges Board of Governors, met with several state officials to advocate for the budgetary needs of California's community colleges. Among the meetings was a productive conversation with Assemblymember David Alvarez, focused on securing resources that support student success and equitable access across the state.

Dr. Schultz recently served as chair for a follow-up re-accreditation visit at Napa Valley College, supporting the institution's commitment to continuous improvement and educational excellence. In this leadership role, Dr. Schultz collaborated with college stakeholders and accreditation team members to assess progress on institutional goals and ensure alignment with ACCJC standards.

Student Services Integration: As of April 14, 2025, Enrollment Services and Counseling lobbies have consolidated in effort to create a one-stop shop for student summer enrollment needs.
Black Student Success Week: MSJC proudly celebrated Black Student Success Week on April 21, reaffirming its commitment to equity and student achievement.
Faculty Recruitment: As part of MSJC's ongoing recruitment efforts, Executive Leadership participated
in several final interviews to fill key faculty positions in History, Anatomy & Physiology,
Chemistry, Drama/Theater Arts, and other disciplines.
Dreamer Ally Training: Employees across the district were invited to participate in Dreamer Ally Training. This training focused on providing tools and information to employees to bolster student support. Training occurred on April 23-24 and May 5-6, 2025.
Board of Trustees
Rotary Club Support: Trustee Vicki Carpenter, representing the Rotary Club of Menifee, announced the club's generous $500 donation to support MSJC's Eagles Landing Center pantry, helping to address food insecurity among students.

Student Advocacy in Action: Student Trustee Sam Cardenas and Student Government Association members represented MSJC at the Student Senate for California Community Colleges General Assembly. As MSJC's delegate, Sam actively voted on statewide resolutions aimed at supporting student needs.
Transfer Milestone: Student Trustee Sam Cardenas has officially committed to transferring to the University of California, Riverside, in Fall 2025. Congratulations, Sam!
