Grad Story: Glenda Dixson

5/24/2023

For many students, community college provides a unique opportunity to explore different fields of study, develop essential skills, and prepare for transfer, or launching a career. For Glenda Dixson, MSJC was a place where she was transformed.

“Pursuing my dreams has always been important to me, for I can see not only the beauty they will bring, but, that I can share the hard work, studying, time management, and perseverance skills that I have sacrificed to achieve,” Glenda said.  “My experience at MSJC has been very challenging, depressing, joyful and most rewarding.  I'm glad I did not give up, kept the course, and completed the task at hand.”

Glenda was the student speaker at the afternoon graduation ceremony. She shared with classmates and their families, “I have the knowledge now that can open doors of opportunities for generations to come. I have the education now to do this, I got this!”

Glenda is graduating with a degree in management and supervision. Her dream is to combine her management skills with her teaching credentials to open an online school for secondary education. She is passionate about education and wants to make a difference in the lives of students.

“This is just the beginning of a transformation of professionals, who have soared like the Eagles that we are,” Glenda told the Class of 2023. “Because we never gave up on our dreams, never gave up learning, we are transforming education into real life accomplishments.”
