Grad Story: Jessica Hulett

5/24/2023

We celebrate the inspiring journey of Jessica Hulett, a mother of five, who is graduating from MSJC with a degree in accounting. Jessica’s academic journey has been marked by relentless dedication and unwavering commitment. Despite the challenges she faced, she enrolled at MSJC in 2003 and that same year dropped out due to health issues. According to her, this was a good thing since her grades reflected her motivation.

Jessica returned to MSJC in 2019 a more mature, driven, and prepared student. Enrolling in an accounting class, she needed a challenge. Her mentor and professor, Ronald Bowman, took a chance on her and recommended that she take the honors component. It was through the Honors Program that Jessica flourished.

Through Honors, Jessica was named a Coca Cola Silver Scholar, was on the All-California State 1st Team, earned the PTK Leaders of Promise Scholarship and last week was named MSJC Honors Student of the Year.

Jessica is graduating with a 4.0 GPA and is transferring to her dream college, Purdue University, where she will learn virtually while her youngest two children complete high school. Her goal is to take in-person classes as she earns a master’s degree.
