Raza Scholars Celebration Honors Over 130 Graduates at Menifee Valley Campus
5/15/2025
Despite winds sweeping through the Menifee Valley Campus, nothing could stop the pride, joy, and spirit of last night's Raza Scholars Celebration. The heartfelt event brought together more than 130 graduating Latine and Chicanx students, their families, faculty, and staff to honor academic achievement, cultural heritage, and community resilience.
Dr. Roger Schultz, MSJC Superintendent/President, welcomed guests with powerful words of affirmation, highlighting the graduating scholars' perseverance, leadership, and dedication. “Each of you is a scholar, a leader, and a source of pride for your families, your community, and MSJC,” he shared.
A beloved tradition of the event was the presentation of the sarape stole—a vibrant symbol of identity and cultural pride—placed on each graduate by a loved one. The Puente Program honored its graduating Puentistas, recognizing their journey with heartfelt stoling ceremonies reflecting their hard work, perseverance, and ganas.
Hosted by the Office of Hispanic-Serving Institutions & Latinx Affairs, the bilingual celebration embodied the richness of MSJC's diverse community and affirmed the college's commitment to embracing language, culture, and heritage as strengths.
Congratulations to the Class of 2025 Raza Scholars—¡Sigan volando alto, Eagles!
