A Historic Milestone: San Jacinto Unified Celebrates First Middle College Graduates in Partnership with MSJC
6/9/2025
A new chapter in educational excellence was written this graduation season as San Jacinto Unified School District (SJUSD) celebrated the first graduating class of its Middle College program—a transformative partnership with Mt. San Jacinto College (MSJC) that allows high school students to earn both their high school diploma and college credits simultaneously.
The Class of 2025 made history as the inaugural group to complete the rigorous program, walking across the graduation stage with high school diplomas and valuable college experience under their belts. Dressed in caps and gowns adorned with cords and sashes, the students proudly marked the culmination of a groundbreaking journey that began in 2023.
Middle College students take college-level courses on the MSJC campus while completing high school requirements. The program is designed to help students gain early exposure to higher education and reduce the time and cost of earning a college degree.
The success of this first cohort stands as a testament to the power of partnership between K-12 and community college systems and the dedication of educators and families who supported the students every step of the way.
In a moment that symbolized the strength of this cross-institutional partnership,
MSJC Trustee Calvin Smith joined the graduates on the field to congratulate them on
their achievements and capture the spirit of collaboration and possibility that the
Middle College program represents.
