MSJC Campus Clubs

Whether you have an interest in art or community service, academic achievement or the paranormal, MSJC has a club for you. Club involvement strengthens bonds between students and gives you a way to get involved and meet new students with similar interests and goals. Below is a table with all of the on campus clubs available to students. A brief description of most clubs is available under the table. If you’d like additional information on any of MSJC’s campus clubs, please contact the club directly or attend a meeting.

A2MEND: A2MEND promotes enrollment, success, empowerment, leadership, networking, professionalism and graduation rates of African American, Latino, and other at-risk male students at MSJC.

Advisor: Kevin Baker 

 

Active Minds: Active Minds spreads awareness and educates students about mental health, promotes and hosts activities to spread mental health awareness, and creates a safe and comfortable space for students to share their thoughts and talk about issues they may be experiences.

Alliance of Latinx American Students (ALAS): ALAS empowers and supports the Latinx student community with the goal of promoting the Latino culture, educating the community about Latinx-American culture and developing members’ leadership skills for use in professional and personal development.

Psychology Club: The Psychology Club is dedicated to stimulating an interest in psychology among members and students through educational opportunities on topics related to mental health and psychological professions, promotion of student research, information on prospective careers and academic programs. Members coordinate field trip opportunities, guest speakers, workshops, discussion groups based on documentaries and films relating to psychology and events throughout the academic year.

Puente: Puente is service and social program dedicated to building a strong sense of community between current and former Puente students as well as interested students not in the program. The club participates in academic, social, and community events, as well as fosters ongoing development of personal and educational member growth, and exposes members to the transfer process, guest speakers, scholarship information, educational field trips, cultural outings, and university tours.

Roboneers: The Roboneers pursue interdisciplinary advancements in computer science and engineering through the building and programming of robots.

S.A.I.L.: S.A.I.L. promotes the awareness of MSJC’s interpreting program and provides support to interpreting students, builds partnerships with the public, promotes diversity, recruits POC to pursue the interpreting field, serves as role models, seeks to develop professionalism among interpreters, and creates connections within the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Deaf/Blind and Late Deafened communities.

S.E.A.L.: S.E.A.L. promotes environmental awareness and informs students about current environmental events, encourages civic involvement, participates in civilized and objective debates with people of different environmental perspectives, participates in local environmental projects and serves as a conduit for environmental policy and other issues affecting the club and students on campus.​

S.W.A.N.S.: S.W.A.N.S. contributes to nursing education by encouraging students to provide the highest quality of healthcare, provide programs representative of interests and concerns of nursing students, and aids in the development of the whole person, including their professional role and responsibility to provide healthcare to people of all walks of life.

The Talon: The Talon reports on important issues affecting the student body and aims to better connect students with MSJC. The Talon provides truthful and transparent accounts of the college and community, creates a venue for student voices, represents the diversity of students at MSJC in an ethical manner, creates a place where students can network with others of similar interests, objectively monitors campus life through investigations and thorough research, provides a forum for public criticism and compromise and allows students to gain experience in writing.
