SJC Site Council - Full-time Faculty (two member/senator seats available)
My name is Brittany Renard, and I am an Assistant Professor of English at MSJC's San Jacinto Campus who has served on the Academic Senate as a Senator representing SJC for the past year. It is my honor to run for re-election during this cycle. During my time serving on the Academic Senate, I have done more than simply attended bi-monthly meetings; I've led a working group that revised the Academic Senate Bylaws, served on another working group that will propose a structure for stronger communication between Senate Standing Committees and the Senate Council, and I'm leading the development of the Academic Senate SharePoint Site to ensure the sustainability of Academic Senate communications and business across leadership teams. I've also served on the Curriculum Committee since I joined MSJC in Fall of 2024, where I've acted as a Tech Reviewer, leading the Tech Reviews for courses that have been mandated to transition to the new CCN system, as well as contributed to the working group that revised the RSI language included on all Course Outlines of Record. My experience with the Curriculum Committee has only made me a stronger Senator, better able to understand and represent faculty across a variety of disciplines. If re-elected, I look forward to continuing this level of deeply committed service in my Academic Senate role. Thank you for your consideration.
I am honored to be nominated for the Academic Senate at Mt. San Jacinto College. I am currently at the end of my first year as a full-time faculty member, after proudly serving MSJC since 2019 as an adjunct instructor. This experience has given me insight into the needs of both part-time and full-time faculty and the diverse students we serve. I respectfully ask for your vote so I can contribute my experience, collaboration, and dedication to supporting our faculty and advancing the mission of MSJC.

I am honored to accept the nomination to serve as an Academic Senate representative for the Menifee Valley Campus. I bring over 23 years of experience as a full-time faculty member in California community colleges, including the past 8 years at MSJC in our Teacher Education and Developmental Studies (TEDS) program and 15 years at Santa Ana College. I also currently serve as an adjunct faculty member in psychology and have taught across multiple institutions, giving me a broad perspective on our students, programs, and systems.
My service has always been rooted in collaboration and advocacy. For over 20 years, I have contributed to college campuses, participating in Academic Senate, Curriculum Council, and numerous committees and task forces. I currently serve as our TEDS department chair and as our college-wide Co-Chair of the Strong Workforce Steering Committee, where we support career education programs through strategic funding, innovation, and cross-campus collaboration.
My work is grounded in a deep commitment to student success, equity, and intentional teaching practices. I prioritize the use of Open Educational Resources (OER) and strive to create culturally responsive and inclusive learning environments that reflect and support the diverse students we serve. Much like nurturing growth in our students, effective shared governance requires care, intention, and the understanding that strong systems don’t happen overnight—they are cultivated through collaboration and trust. I believe that faculty voices are essential in shaping effective policies, strengthening our programs, and ensuring that our decisions remain connected to the realities of the classroom. If elected, I will advocate for transparency, collaboration, and meaningful faculty engagement in shared governance.
Thank you for your consideration. 🙂
MVC Site Council - Part-time Faculty (two member/senator seats available)
I am grateful for the second term nomination and the opportunity to serve in Academic Senate. My pedagogical philosophy centers on student success, equity, and access, and I value shared governance as a way to support meaningful faculty involvement. I hope to contribute in ways that strengthen our programs and help all students succeed.
Hello all! My name is Gillian Patton and as an Associate Faculty Instructor of Psychology, I would be more than honored to represent you on the MVC Academic Senate as the Associate Faculty Senator for this academic year.
During my time at MSJC, I have been inspired by my caring and supportive colleagues to offer my services as your representative. Since joining MSJC twenty-one years ago as a student, then as our first SI Leader, mentor, and a Statistics, Psychology and Math tutor, an Honors Scholars Workshop Leader, as well as a Psychology Instructor since 2009, I have had the opportunity to serve in many roles.
While serving as Co-Advisor for the SAGA Club, Co-Facilitator of the Beyond the Binary and Coming Out Forum Workshops since 2020 and helping the LGBTQIA+ Task Force, I have come to appreciate importance of making decisions that advocate for intersectionality, diversity, and inclusion for everyone at MSJC. Additionally, I facilitate semesterly Honors Scholars’ workshops for all students in the topics of stress reduction, and memory. Occasionally, I do get Honor’s students in my classes too, who I enjoy working with. I also assisted the Assessment Committee in developing SLOs from 2019 – 2020 as well as the RN Program by coordinating and facilitating the ASTAR Program (for the TEAS test) from 2010 – 2016. I have worked with the Pregnant Student Task to help come up with fair and equitable ideas on how to help our students succeed. I use OER resources in my class and was nominated for the Hayward Award by my peers and won the Part-time Faculty of the Year Award in 2023. I also helped the Flex Work Group in shaping the guidelines we have for the Flex Process.
I have learned a lot being your Associate Faculty Senator. I have voted on and argued for some important issues such as online proctoring options, a new constitution, key fob access to our classrooms/offices as well as championing our very own recent Hayward Award winner, Sandra Blackman. Most recently, I have been nominated and am working toward finding MSJC a new college president as well as an improved contract with UPTE-CWA for our associate faculty. It has been a long road so far at MSJC and I am more than excited to represent you at the senate!
