Superintendent/President Updates
Superintendent/President Dr. Roger Schultz closed out the academic year with a message of gratitude and encouragement to students and staff, reflecting on the many accomplishments and milestones of 2024–2025.
MSJC also hosted its annual employee recognition and appreciation events, celebrating the dedication and service of employees across the district. This year's festivities included:
- Announcement of the 2025 Employee of the Year winners
- Faculty of the year - Full-time SJC: Bahareh Alaei and John Torres; Full-time MVC: Michelle Vogel Trautt; Part-time SJC: Kelsey Sportsman; Part-time MVC: Candace Saunders-Grewe
- Classified of the Year - SJC: Rosa Jimenez; MVC: Veronica Perez; TVC: Mitchel Anderson
- Colleague of the Year - Ruth Joseph
- Administrator of the Year - Anna Stirling
- The first-ever Staff Pickleball Tournament, where teams of two competed in a spirited show of camaraderie and fun - congratulations to the winning team: Aaron Reitkerk & Yolanda Osborne
- A special tribute to 53 retirees
- Participation from Trustees Ashley, Corona, and Sylva, who joined in celebrating the contributions of MSJC's outstanding employees

In addition, the college recognized student achievement and resilience through a series of vibrant end-of-year celebrations for affinity groups, including Imani, Lavender, Puente and Raza.
Executive Cabinet Highlights
The Executive Cabinet proudly supported the successful planning and execution of the 2025 Commencement Ceremonies, honoring graduates across the district.
The Cabinet also participated in the Nursing Pinning Ceremony, recognizing the accomplishments of MSJC's future healthcare professionals.

Rebecca Teague, Vice President of Student Services, was interviewed by Univision along with Rita Hernandez, the 90-year-old MSJC graduate whose inspiring journey captured national and international attention as the college's oldest graduate.
Board of Trustees Activities
On May 1, Trustees Corona and Smith attended the Perris Chamber of Commerce State of the City event alongside college staff, engaging with local leaders to strengthen community partnerships.
The Board celebrated Sam Cardenas during her final meeting as Student Trustee, congratulating
her on graduating with a degree in Business Administration.
Trustee Sylva represented MSJC at the Community College League of California Annual Trustees Conference, continuing professional development in governance and advocacy.
Trustee Sylva also represented MSJC at the Annual Cherry Festival Parade, connecting with community members and promoting the college's presence in the region.
As the academic year concluded, the Board received final updates from the Veterans Resource Center and student groups, including Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the Student Government Association (SGA) and various student clubs, highlighting a year of leadership, service, and engagement across MSJC campuses.
